NEW YORK YOUNG PERFORMERS PRIZE (NYYPP)
Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 4pm
Greenwich House Music School,
46 Barrow St., New York, NY 10036
The New York Young Performers Prize (NYYPP) offers a unique musical experience for students of all instruments. Piano students from fourth to twelfth grades and string and vocal students ages nine to twenty-one will strive for a level of expertise where they will be rewarded with monetary prizes and presented in a live performance.
Students entering these auditions learn to develop a work ethic by preparing up to four pieces of music by memory (depending on the age group) and performing them before adjudicators. Entrants chosen from the preliminary round (Video Audition ) are then presented in concert for the final round.
The New York Young Performers Prizes go beyond developing a student’s talent. The preparation that goes into learning a piece of music and the experience of performing in a competitive environment will carry through to other aspects of their lives: academic, social, spiritual, and intellectual. In addition to rewarding students for their high levels of achievement, it also encourages teachers to maintain high pedagogical standards.
