Honors Concert

What is our Honors Concert about?

The most outstanding participants from our range of events are invited to perform in the Live Honors Concert, which concludes AMTL’s series of musical activities of the season.
In addition to the distinguished invited performers, we also welcome students who wish to participate in this exciting concert; for them, a video audition will be available.
Note: No age limit is applicable to Honors Concert 2025 participants, within the celebratory framework of AMTL’s Centennial (1925-2025).

The Virtual Honors Concert wishes to welcome any aspiring participant who meets the requirements, regardless of their location.

Near or far, whether in the USA or not, if you´d like to say farewell to the ending season in a joyful event presenting exceptional young classical performers to US and international audiences, make sure to submit your Application on time!

 

There are currently no new event dates.

The Associated Music Teachers League, Inc. (hereinafter, “AMTL”) reserves the right to cancel any event. In case of such cancellation, the AMTL’s sole obligation shall be for the refund to the applicant of its application fee. The AMTL shall not be obligated in any way whatsoever for any costs, expenses, or other inconveniences incurred by you beyond the amount of the application fee.

 

Requirements:

Eligibility & Age Limits:
Within the framework of AMTL’s Centennial (1925-2025), no age limit will be applied to Honors Concert Events. All interested performers and/or composers are welcome to apply!

 

Repertoire & Time Limitations:
Each Candidate may submit only ONE piece, the performance of which must not exceed 12 minutes in length. (One Movement of a Sonata or Concerto will be considered as one piece).

  • Two piano ensembles (4 hands / 8 hands) are welcome to enter this year’s Concert.
  • String and Wind Ensembles (String Quartets, Wind/Brass Quintets, Piano Trios/Quartets, etc.) are also welcome.
  • Composers are welcome to premiere their work(s) with us.
Auditions:

Each Applicant can submit only one composition, which must be in accordance with the repertoire selection stated in their Application.
The video of them performing this composition must be uploaded on YouTube and submitted in the form of a link (URL).
Audition links can be submitted in the Candidate’s Online Application (see below), or by email to honorsconcert@amtl.org by May 12.

  • Each YouTube posting should state the Candidate’s full name and age (upon performance), followed by the full title of the piece performed (including Opus numbers, Movement indications, and Composer).

    For example:
    John Smith (16) performs Sonata No. 10 in G Major, Op. 14 No. 2 – I: Allegro, by Ludwig van Beethoven.

  • For Ensembles, please state every performer’s name (plus age upon performance, and instrument) in the description box below the audition video.

    For example:
    John Smith (16, piano), Jane Doe (17, viola) and Mary Smith (18, soprano) perform [selected piece; see previous example above].

  • Only full recordings of each repertoire selection must be posted, without edits or cuts; partial recordings will be disqualified.

  • Although live accompaniment is preferable, Strings and Voice applicants are free to use pre-recorded accompaniment.

 

Important:
Before you send your audition video, kindly make sure that it is FREE OF ANY YOUTUBE-KIDS (KIDS-ONLY) RESTRICTION in the settings (see here how to do so). Otherwise, it cannot be included in the Event’s playlist.

 

Entrance to Venue:
All performers must be at the Venue by no later than 5:00 pm.
Due to the limited capacity of our Live Concert venue, each performer is allowed to bring a maximum of 2 companions. If a performer wishes to invite more than 2 individuals, he/she must let us know in advance, by email to honorsconcert@amtl.org, so we may estimate the venue possibilities and contact him/her back about it.
